Japan mulling fund disbursement over Korean "comfort women" in Aug.
File photo taken in January 2016 shows a bronze statue symbolizing Korean "comfort women," or women from the Korean Peninsula forced into wartime brothels for the Japanese military, that stands outside the Japanese Embassy in Seoul. The Japanese government plans to provide 1 billion yen ($9.6 million) to South Korea to implement a landmark deal over such South Korean women, even before the removal of the statue, sources said July 26, 2016, adding the money is most likely to be released in August.
