Former yokozuna Chiyonofuji dies at age of 61
File photo taken in January 2016 shows former sumo yokozuna (grand champion) Chiyonofuji, the first sumo wrestler to receive the People's Honor Award in 1989. He died on July 31 due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 61. Chiyonofuji, whose real name was Mitsugu Akimoto, ranked third in championships with 31 wins behind Hakuho (37) and Taiho (32).
