Aomori Nebuta Festival begins for 6-day run
Colorful three-dimensional lantern floats designed after warrior dolls parade through the streets in downtown Aomori, northeastern Japan, on Aug. 2, 2016, the first day of the six-day Aomori Nebuta Festival. The large floats called Nebuta is about 5 meters tall and weighs about 4 tons. Organizers expect the festival to attract more people than last year's 2.69 million. (Kyodo)
