Japan issues intercept order for potential N. Korean missile launches
Japanese Defense Minister Tomomi Inada (L) and Gen. Robert Brown (R), commanding general of the U.S. Army Pacific, agree in Tokyo on Aug. 8, 2016, that the nuclear threat posed by North Korea is increasing and the two nations will strengthen coordination. Inada issued an order the same day for the Self-Defense Forces to shoot down any projectile heading toward Japanese territory, in anticipation of potential North Korean missile launches, according to Japanese government sources.
