Abe's close aide visits Yasukuni
Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Koichi Hagiuda, close aide of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visits the war-linked Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Aug. 15, 2016, the 71st anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II. Sanae Takaichi, internal affairs minister, and Tamayo Marukawa, minister in charge of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, also paid homage there. (Kyodo)
