Anti-nuclear candidate set to win Niigata governor race
Ryuichi Yoneyama, a candidate backed by anti-nuclear opposition parties, celebrates in the city of Niigata on Oct. 16, 2016, after the media reported he was set to win the Niigata gubernatorial election. Yoneyama, a 49-year-old doctor supported by the Japanese Communist Party and two other small parties, has been seen as an heir to incumbent Gov.
