LDP to extend party leader's term
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrives at his office in Tokyo on Oct. 25, 2016. His ruling Liberal Democratic Party will raise the existing limit on the party leader's tenure to three consecutive terms totaling nine years from the current two consecutive terms totaling six years, which could allow Abe to remain premier through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
