Special advisor to prime minister visits Juba
Masahiko Shibayama (3rd from L), special advisor to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visits Juba, capital of South Sudan, on Nov. 1, 2016, where Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force personnel are stationed. They have been involved in a U.N. mission there since 2012 and the Japanese government is controversially seeking to expand their role to include duties such as going to the aid of U.N. staff and others under attack.
