Kawabuchi mulls passing up offer to be next Tokyo Olympics head
TOKYO, Feb. 12 Kyodo - Saburo Kawabuchi, a former president of the Japan Football Association, is considering not accepting a request to replace Tokyo Olympics chief Yoshiro Mori, who is set to resign over sexist remarks that stirred public anger, a source familiar with the matter said Friday. Kawabuchi told reporters on Thursday he was asked by Mori to take over as the head of the organizing committee. He said at the time he was ready to take over if he received a formal request.
