Top court rules in favor of U.S. base relocation in Okinawa
People hold up signs protesting against the Supreme Court's ruling in a dispute between the central and Okinawa prefectural governments over the relocation of a U.S. Marine Corps air base, in front of the top court in Tokyo on Dec. 20, 2016. The court ruled in favor of the central government, ending a legal fight following Okinawa Gov. Takeshi Onaga's revocation of his predecessor's approval of land reclamation for the relocation of the Marines' Air Station Futenma from a crowded residential area in Ginowan to the Henoko coastal area of Nago.
