14-year-old pro shogi player beats oldest top player in debut match
Sota Fujii, who became the youngest-ever professional player of shogi, a chess-like Japanese board game, in October at the age of 14 years and 2 months, smiles after beating Hifumi Kato, 76, the oldest top-ranked shogi player in his debut match in Tokyo on Dec. 24, 2016. The age gap between the two players was the widest in an official shogi match, according to the Japan Shogi Association. (Kyodo)
