S. Korea protests Japan's isle claim in school curriculum guidelines
Hideo Suzuki, minister at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul, leaves the South Korean Foreign Ministry building in Seoul on Feb. 14, 2017, after being summoned by Chung Byung Won, director general of the ministry's Northeast Asia Affairs Bureau. Chung protested against Japan's claims over a pair of South Korean-controlled islets, after the Japanese education ministry unveiled curriculum guidelines that for the first time urge elementary and junior high schools to teach students that the islets are "integral parts of Japanese territory."
