Pair of Yubari melons fetch 1.5 million yen
A pair of melons produced in Yubari in Japan's northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido fetches a price of 1.5 million yen ($13,400) at the season's first auction in Sapporo on May 26, 2017. The successful bidder plans to give the melons to children at an elementary school in Yubari. (Kyodo)
