Former Okinawa Gov. Ota, who tackled U.S. base issues, dies at 92
Photo taken in November 2015 shows former Okinawa Gov. Masahide Ota, who strived to resolve problems arising from the presence of U.S. military bases in the island prefecture during his two terms as governor from 1990. Ota died of pneumonia and respiratory failure on June 12, 2017. He had turned 92 the same day. (Kyodo)
