Part of Atomic Bomb Dome raised from river
A crane lifts a concrete block, which was part of a balcony of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall building blown up by the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing, from the Motoyasu River in Hiroshima on June 20, 2017. The ruin of the building, which was the only structure left standing near the hypocenter of the atomic bomb, is known as the Atomic Bomb Dome and serves as a memorial of the bombing and a symbol of peace.
