Japan's northern Hokkaido having unusually hot July
Children play in water at a park in Sapporo in Japan's northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido on July 14, 2017, as the mercury rose above 30 C in various locations on the island. The local meteorological observatory said temperatures surpassed 30 C for the 10th day in a row, a rarity for Hokkaido in July, with such a period last occurring 20 years ago. (Kyodo)
