Governors vow to tackle measures against disasters
Kyoto Gov. Keiji Yamada, who serves as president of the National Governors' Association, speaks during the organization's two-day national conference on its opening day on July 27, 2017, in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, an area hit hard by the 2011 massive quake and tsunami in northeastern Japan. Yamada said, "It's essential to come up with drastic measures against disasters which we face very frequently in our lives now," as the governors vowed to continue working jointly with the central government on measures to prevent natural disasters and rebuild devastated areas.
