Historic water wheels resume operation in southwestern Japan
Three water wheels in the southwestern Japan city of Asakura turn normally for the first time in about a month on Aug. 2, 2017, after the completion of restoration following devastating torrential rain in the area. Japan's oldest working water wheels, which distribute water to rice fields, were designated as a national historic site in 1990. (Kyodo)
