Single pilot solar plane holds test flights in Hokkaido

Photo taken Aug. 23, 2017, at Takikawa Sky Park in Takikawa in Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido shows a single pilot solar plane. The SP-1, a small aircraft weighing 86 kilograms with a wingspan of about 18 meters and a fuselage about 9 meters in length, was jointly built by Japanese aircraft-maker Olympos and engineering students. The plane successfully flew at an 11-meter altitude during test flights. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
