Single pilot solar plane holds test flights in Hokkaido

Satoru Shinohe, president of Japanese aircraft maker Olympos, speaks to the pilot of a solar plane at Takikawa Sky Park in Takikawa in Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido. The SP-1, a small aircraft weighing 86 kilograms with a wingspan of about 18 meters and a fuselage about 9 meters in length, was jointly built by Japanese aircraft-maker Olympos and engineering students.
