Wagyu cattle "Olympics" begin in northeastern Japan
The 11th nationwide wagyu fair, a contest held every five years and dubbed the Olympics for wagyu Japanese cattle, begins in Sendai, northeastern Japan, on Sept. 7, 2017. A record 513 cows from across Japan are taking part in the contest, competing in the breeding cattle or beef cattle divisions with entrants judged on their body shape, coat or the quality of their meat. The winners will be announced on Sept. 11, the final day. (Kyodo)
