Volcano in southwestern Japan erupts for 1st time in 6 years
Plumes of smoke billow from Mt. Shinmoe, a volcano on Japan's southwestern main island of Kyushu, on Oct. 11, 2017, as it erupts for the first time in six years. The previous major eruption of the volcano, which is part of the Kirishima mountain range, occurred in September 2011. (Kyodo)
