Quake-hit Kumamoto vows to step up reconstruction on 2nd anniversary
People offer flowers at an altar set up for a memorial ceremony held in Kumamoto Prefecture on April 14, 2018 to mark the second anniversary of devastating earthquakes in the southwestern Japanese prefecture. A magnitude 6.5 quake hit on the same day in 2016, and in combination with a M7.3 temblor that struck two days later in Japan's Kyushu region, 250 people were left dead, with over 35,000 still displaced.
