Quake-hit Kumamoto vows to step up reconstruction on 2nd anniversary
People offer flowers at an altar set up for a memorial ceremony held in Kumamoto Prefecture on April 14, 2018 to mark the second anniversary of devastating earthquakes in the southwestern Japanese prefecture. A magnitude 6.5 quake hit on the same day in 2016, and in combination with an M7.3 temblor that struck two days later in Japan's Kyushu region, 250 people were left dead, with over 35,000 still displaced.
