Cattle in radiation-exposed area in northeastern Japan
Photo taken on Aug. 18, 2018 shows cattle farmer Fumikazu Watanabe taking care of a cow at his farm in an area designated by the Japanese government as an evacuation zone in Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, northeastern Japan, located near the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Some farmers in the area, including Watanabe, refused to follow the government's instruction to slaughter cattle after the 2011 nuclear crisis. (Kyodo)
