Plum blossom festival
Visitors look at plum blossoms in Kairakuen, known as one of the three greatest gardens in Japan, in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Feb. 16, 2019, at the beginning of the annual plum blossom festival scheduled to run through March 31. The garden, created in 1842, contains around 3,000 plum trees of about 100 varieties. (Kyodo)
