Tsunami-hit Sanriku Railway
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe rides a train on the Sanriku Railway -- severely damaged by the 2011 earthquake-tsunami disaster in northeastern Japan -- in Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture, on March 9, 2019, two days before the disaster's eighth anniversary. Part of the railroad running through coastal areas of northeastern Japan was flooded by the tsunami following the massive earthquake that hit the region. (Kyodo)
