1964 Tokyo Olympic cauldron

A larger-sized model of the Olympic cauldron from the 1964 Tokyo Games is pictured against the backdrop of the new National Stadium in Tokyo on May 16, 2019. The cauldron, which had been loaned to Ishinomaki, a Miyagi Prefecture city hit hard by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan, will go on permanent display at the entrance of National Stadium, the main venue for the 2020 Games that is under construction.
