Japan-Taiwan project recreating ancient sea migration
Five paddlers on a dugout canoe arrive on Yonaguni Island in Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan, on July 9, 2019, after traveling more than 200 kilometers from southeastern Taiwan. The voyage, a research project between Japanese and Taiwanese national museums, was aimed at proving the hypothesis that humans migrated between the islands about 30,000 years ago. (Kyodo)
