Japan #MeToo case
Japanese journalist Shiori Ito gives an interview in Tokyo on Dec. 16, 2019. Two days later, the Tokyo District Court ordered Noriyuki Yamaguchi, a former Washington bureau chief of a television broadcaster, to pay 3.3 million yen ($30,000) in damages for raping Ito, seen as a symbol of the "#MeToo" movement in Japan, where few sexual assault victims come forward.
