75th anniv. of Tsushima Maru sinking
Photo taken Aug. 22, 2019, shows exhibits at the Tsushima Maru Memorial Museum in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan. On display in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the 1944 Tsushima Maru incident are items that belonged to its victims. Nearly 1,500 civilian evacuees from Okinawa, half of them schoolchildren, were killed as their ship sank after being torpedoed by a U.S. submarine during World War II. (Kyodo)
