Halls for Daijosai imperial rite dismantled
Timber used in the Daijokyu Halls, which was built especially for the Daijosai thanksgiving ceremony performed by Japanese Emperor Naruhito as a key imperial succession rite in November 2019, is burned on the Imperial Palace grounds in Tokyo on Feb. 21, 2020. About 300 kilograms of timber were burned following tradition, while the rest, as much as possible, will be recycled. (Kyodo)
