Chum salmon fry released in Hokkaido river
Chum salmon fry, each measuring around five centimeters in length, swim in the Nishibetsu River in Shibecha, Hokkaido, northern Japan, on May 11, 2020, after being released. Some 25 million chum salmon fry are set to be released by late May, with around 0.1 percent of them expected to return to the river a few years later to spawn. (Kyodo)
