Protesters call for Abe's resignation
Protesters gather near Japan's parliament building in Tokyo on June 15, 2020, two days before the scheduled closing of the current ordinary session, calling for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to step down to take the blame for a series of issues facing Japan's society amid lingering coronavirus concerns. About 100 people staged a sit-in protest near the building, accusing Abe of failing to take adequate steps to turn around the virus-linked economic slowdown while giving excessively lenient treatment to a high-ranked prosecutor involved in a gambling scandal.
