Baseball: NPB to scrap "Tazawa Rule"
Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Junichi Tazawa poses in Yokohama near Tokyo on Sept. 8, 2020, after Nippon Professional Baseball said the previous day it will abolish a rule that forces amateurs who skipped its draft to pursue an immediate career overseas to wait two or three seasons after returning to Japan before they are eligible to play in NPB. Since the rule was introduced after Tazawa declared he would go straight to the majors from the corporate league in 2008, it is known as the "Tazawa Rule."
