Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, accompanied by his wife Monika Babisova (left), laid a wreath to the memorial of first Czechoslovak president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1918-1935) in Washington last night, March 7, 2019. Babis is now on a four-day visit to the USA. On Thursday, he was received by U.S. President Donald Trump in the White House. The commemorative act was held at Masaryk's statue on the corner of the Massachussets Avenue and the 22nd Street. Czech ambassador to the USA Hynek Kmonicek said the meeting on March 7 was a traditional event, but Czech Americans also met to remember Masaryk at the statue on other important days.
