TV Nova seat
Shareholders of Central European Media Enterprises (CME) approved the acquisition of the media company by PPF group of billionaire Petr Kellner at today's extraordinary general meeting, CME said on its website on Thursday, February 27, 2020. The deal is worth some USD2.1bn (over Kc48bn). CME runs TV stations in five countries in Central and Eastern Europe including the Czech private TV Nova (on the February 28, 2020 photo). Shareholders voted on the deal a day after US senator Marco Rubio said he wanted the US administration to review the national security implications of CME's sale. CME signed the contract with PPF's subsidiaries last October. The deal still needs an approval by the European Commission and regulators in some of the countries where CME has been operating.
