The Kaguraden and honden (inner sanctuary),Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine

On the left is the Kaguraden of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (lower hall of worship). At the top of the stairs is the main shrine of Hachimangu. There are 62 steps in total. The Hachimangu that Yoritomo moved from Tsurugaoka is said to have been located under the staircase, but it was burned in a fire in 1193 and moved to the present higher location in November of the same year. The building on the left is the Kaguraden.
