Shinobazu Pond
Shinobazu Pond was built in the shape of Lake Biwa, with a Bentendo in the Chikubujima, when Kaneiji was built in the second year of Kanei (1625) by the monk Tenkai. This is a bird's eye view from the Kiyomizuzaka. Teahouses line the approach. Ahead are the Bentendo in the centre, Ikujiin in the fore right. A photo taken before Mt. Ueno was designated as a park in 1873.==Date:unknown, Place:Tokyo, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number26‐31‐0]
