Koken-in Sekitoji Temple at the foot of Mt. Myogi

Sekitoji of Kokenin of Hakuunzan which was located at the shrine office of the Myogi Shrine during the mixture of Shinto and Buddhist religions. It was the guardian of Myogi Shrine. The rough rocks of Mt. Myogi can be seen in the back. Torii gates at Fushimi Shrine

The red Senbon Torii (one thousand gates) along the eastern approach to Fushimi Inari Taisha are viewed looking southeast. The approach starts at Kamigoden Hall on the east side of the shrine precincts and stretches in a southeasterly direction to the foot of Mt. Inari, Myobusha. There are many visitors. The man on the lower left may be a beggar. The marks on the torii gate indicate that this photograph was taken after February 1889, probably by British photographer H. G. Going down the Hozu River

A raft shooting rapids is seen from the northern shore of the Hozu River. Boatmen are sitting on the rocks observing the scene. People took the approximately 16km boat ride from Hozu Town in Kameoka to Togetsu Bridge in Arashiyama. The river boats that carried lumber and goods from Tanba Kameoka to Kyoto were converted to leisure boats at the end of the Meiji Period when the Kyoto Railway was established. Byobu torii gate at the approach to hakone shrine

Nakanodake Shrine is located at the south foot of Mt. Kondo (also called Nakanodake). The deities worshipped are Nihon Buson in the Hongu and Okuninushinomikoto in the Zengu. This is Kagami-ike (Mirror Pond) located at the southeast of Chumon Gate of Todaiji Temple. Since Mt. Wakakusa is visible afar, this is the view from the Nanboku (lit. South-North) approach to the temple when facing southeast. The stairs at west of Nakashima Island and a torii gate are present. Arashiyama

Arashiyama (Mt. Arashi) has a height of about 380 meters. It is located on the east edge of the Tanba Highlands and has Torigamine and Yamagamine to the northwest and Mt. Matsuo to the southeast. Hozu River runs from the north to the east at the northern foot of the mountain. A bamboo grove with a brushwood fence is shown at the bank of Hozu River, with hotels in the distance.
