The bridge downstream is Benten Bridge and the mountain on the other side of Nagasaki Port is Mt. Inasa. A boat called ‘sanpan’, used to fetch goods from the ships offshore, is moored. The area, ‘Sagarimatsu’, was named after the pine tree on the left. The roof of Myogyoji Temple is barely discernable. Daibutsu (the Great Buddha) of Kamakura

The exact date of the photograph is unknown. The only historical information about the former Great Buddha Hall is that it collapsed twice, once in 1334 and again in 1369. Since there is no record of reconstruction after the earthquake of 1498, it is like that the statue has been exposed outdoors since that time. Isaba-sen and benzai-sen,transport ships,in oura NAGASAKI

Large and middle-sized Benzai boats and Isaba boats at Oura, Nagasaki. The two at the right are relatively large Benzai boats built in the Kansai style of about 1000 koku , and the one in the center is a middle size of about 500 koku.
