Nishi Honganji Temple

Goei-do of Nishi Honganji Temple, looking from the east side facing west. A bronze lantern is installed at the centre. People can be seen praying in front of the stairs. Kinkakuji Temple

Kagami-ike (Mirror Pond), Todaiji Temple

This is Kagami-ike (Mirror Pond) located at the southeast of Chumon Gate of Todaiji Temple. Since Mt. Wakakusa is visible afar, this is the view from the Nanboku (lit. South-North) approach to the temple when facing southeast. The stairs at west of Nakashima Island and a torii gate are present. Arashiyama

It is probably the beginning of summer because the trees are lush with leaves. The terrace was renovated in 1633. The building is in the yosemune style, and the roof is made entirely of hinoki tree bark. Wings flank the west side and the east and west of the south side. Shinkoji Temple

The Great Buddha built at Shinkoji Temple in September 1760. The bronze statue of Vairocana Buddha is located in front of the temple, facing east, and measures about 4.8 meters in height. It was made by Hasegawa Kuzaemon of Osaka. The bell tower, rebuilt in 1772, is behind the statue, and the main hall constructed in 1730 is visible to the far left. Kiyomizudera Temple,Kyoto

The Nio Gate of Kiyomizu Temple. There are stone lanterns on both the north and the south sides of the stone stairway in front of the gate. The west gate and the three-story pagoda are visible on the far right. Built during the Muromachi Era (1392-1573), the Nio Gate had three rooms and one door with a hiwadabuki (bark-covered) roof. The statue of Kongo Rikishi is situated in the area surrounded by a kongo fence (a fence made of vertical stakes with decoratively shaped finials resembling the ritual object called kongosho used in esoteric Buddhist rites) with lattice work above it.
