When the local God is seen to be the incarnation of a God, it is called Gongen . Tokugawa Ieyasu was a human being but was called Gongen, the Tosho Daigongen. The building worshipping Ieyasu was the Toshogu, and apart form the Toshogu in Ueno, there are others in Nikko of Tochigi prefecture and Mt.
