Ueno Park
The huge wooden torii gate at Toshogu Shrine in Ueno and the sturdy castle-like stone wall convey the power of the first Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The shrine was opened to the public for the first time in 1873. The people depicted here, possibly families, may be visiting to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
