Shijo Kawara

Shijo Kawara

Northern view of Kamogawa River. These are restaurants and inns built on the stone reinforced riverbanks. Stairs and ladders are placed for easy access to the river. Wooden poles for summer balconies are also visible. The sandbank in the middle of the river where a person is standing was used to dry dyed fabrics in the sun. The bridge visible in the background is probably Nijo Bridge.
