Tonosawa Spa
This is Tonosawa Spa viewed from Mt. Yusaka. Chitose Bridge over Hayakawa River was possibly built in the latter half of the fourth decade of the Meiji Era judging from the condition. The buildings at the foot of Tonomine on the other side of the river are summer cottages for the Russian Orthodox Church of Japan. Matryoshka (Russian nesting dolls) were made and bore a hint of Hakone-zaiku marquetry used in the fabrication of the seven lucky gods, which were taken back by Russians.==Date:unknown, Place:Hakone, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number52‐16‐2]
