Tenjoji Temple on Mt. Maya

Tenjoji Temple on Mt. Maya

Constructed in the mid nineteenth century, the Tahoto (pagoda) of Tenjoji Temple had a height of about 5.5 m with four sides. Foreigners referred to it as the Moon Temple because of its location on the hillside overlooking Osaka Bay. Most of the buildings were destroyed by fire in January 1976, but the temple was rebuilt in Okumaya north of this site.==Date:unknown, Place:Kobe, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number56‐11‐0]
