Russell Hall in Higashiyamate
The building in the upper right of the photo is Russel Hall, the main hall of Kwassui Women’s School when it was first established. The building just underneath is Higashiyamata Junibankan, a designated important national cultural property. This photo was taken from the middle hill of HIgashiyamate. Dutch Slope and the entire stone wall of Kwassui are visible. The western style building at the bottom of the slope with the red cloth hanging from the balcony would later become a dormitory of the Nagasaki Communication Office.
