        Chokugaku Gate, the main entrance to the mausoleum of the 7th Shogun Tokugawa Ietsugu, and the bell tower are viewed from the south. There are carvings of dragons on the gateposts. The most opulent of the Tokugawa mausoleums at Zojoji Temple, it was the last built exclusively as a mausoleum.               Arashiyama (Mt. Arashi) has a height of about 380 meters. It is located on the east edge of the Tanba Highlands and has Torigamine and Yamagamine to the northwest and Mt. Matsuo to the southeast. Hozu River runs from the north to the east at the northern foot of the mountain. A bamboo grove with a brushwood fence is shown at the bank of Hozu River, with hotels in the distance. A rickshaw with a woman passenger stands in front of the grove and a man stands nearby.                   The sanmon (front gate) at Sensoji Temple was called Niomon because statues of the guardian deities Kongo Rikishi were installed on both the right and left (present-day Hozomon). Statues of Monju Bosatsu (Manjusri Bodhisattva) and Shiten (four angels) are installed on the second floor of the gate building. The plaque Sensoji is based on calligraphy by the head priest of the Tendai Sect, Ryosho Hoshin-o.
