It is probably the beginning of summer because the trees are lush with leaves. The terrace was renovated in 1633. The building is in the yosemune style, and the roof is made entirely of hinoki tree bark. Wings flank the west side and the east and west of the south side.                     Karasaki-no-Matsu, the pine tree of Karasaki, famous for its portrayal in the ukiyoe print Karasaki-no-Yau (Night Rain of Karasaki), one of the Eight Scenes of Oumi. It is the holy tree of Karasaki Shinto Shrine. The tree in the photograph is the second-generation pine with an east-west width of 72 meters, a north-south width of 86 meters and a height of 10 meters. The branches stretch out to the lake.
